To celebrate a grant from Cycling UK, Everybody’s Cycling is urging individuals to bring their bikes to a “Bike Doctor” event. Attendees will receive a complimentary bike health and safety check, as well as basic repairs. The event will also feature guided rides on car-free routes in York, with a trained leader. Bikes and helmets are available for free, including adapted cycles such as trikes, tandems, and wheelchair transporters. Everybody’s Cycling General Manager, Jessica Shay, noted that the rides are perfect for adults looking to boost their fitness levels and cycling confidence, providing numerous mental and physical health benefits. The events are scheduled to take place from January 17 to January 27, featuring basic bike maintenance sessions, bike doctor clinics, and guided rides. Speaking on the provision of funding from Cycling UK, their Chief Executive, Sarah Mitchell highlighted the initiative’s goal to encourage more people to cycle regularly. No pre-registration is required for the Bike Doctor events, while pre-registration via Eventbrite is available for guided rides. All events are free of charge.
