Working closely with City of York Council and Active Travel England, the organization is at the forefront of influencing policy in and around York. Looking forward to 2024, the group aims to continue raising awareness for cyclists and pushing for changes to accommodate them. Leah Bennett, one of the group’s organizers, emphasized that their main goal is to make the council safer for cyclists while also considering the safety of pedestrians and dog walkers, aiming for a safer environment for everyone in York.
To increase public visibility in the coming year, the group plans to attend events such as the Fulford Show and York Pride, as well as hold pop-up sessions and stalls at various locations. They will also organize mass rides to raise awareness for cyclists and partner with British Transport Police and LNER to set up safety sessions at York station and the city’s universities. The group’s manifesto, “42 ways to transform York,” reflects their ethos of creating a healthier and more equitable environment for everyone in York to live and thrive.
