Strong Winds Pose Challenges for North Yorkshire Firefighters

Fire crews have been responding to various incidents throughout the day, addressing issues such as loose tiles, dangerous electricity cables, fallen tree branches, and debris from a partially demolished building.

Some of the notable incidents include the removal of small roof tiles in Scarborough, the removal of loose metal corrugated roofing panels near Bedale, the securing of a dangerously low-hanging 11000v cable in East Cowton, the securement of a tree affected by high winds in Tadcaster, and the securing of a large plastic gazebo in Harrogate.

Additionally, firefighters roped off an eight-metre-tall tree that had snapped off in the wind and contacted the city council to arrange for a tree surgeon to attend. They also used a hose to damp down a smouldering tree that was thought to have been struck by lightning in Wistow.
