City of York Council has announced changes to waste and recycling collection schedules over the festive period. Most collections will take place the day after the normal collection date to minimize disruption. Crews will even be working on Saturdays to ensure that household waste collection continues. Residents can check specific collection dates on the council’s website. Christmas Day collections will take place two days before on December 23, with the next recycling collection on January 8. Other collection date changes include December 29 and January 5, with recycling collections on January 12 and January 19 respectively. The council also highlighted that ‘hard to reach’ households in the city center should check for any date changes. Household Waste Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. Bring bank recycling sites can be found at supermarkets across the city. Residents are reminded to put out bins and boxes on the specified collection days and can obtain paper copies of the collection calendar at Explore Libraries or by contacting Customer Services for alternative formats.
