The Press reported that a crash between a silver Jaguar and a blue Ford Focus occurred at the bottom of Golden Hill near Huttons Ambo on the A64 west of Malton shortly before midnight on Friday (January 19). Both drivers, a man in his thirties, were seriously injured and had to be cut out of their vehicles by firefighters from Malton and Pickering. The A64 was closed for over 12 hours from just north of York to the Malton by-pass, reopening early on Saturday afternoon (January 20). Both drivers were taken to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Yorkshire Ambulance Service. North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward if they saw the collision or the vehicles prior to the crash.
