New York’s Homelessness Strategy Still Months Away

The authority fails to renew Salvation Army contract. A new homelessness strategy will replace it with an extra £260,000 government funding. The council is already expanding its own rough sleeping navigators team. The new strategy includes preventing homelessness and making sure there is enough accommodation for those who do end up with nowhere to live. It also focuses on ‘Housing First’ aimed at homeless people. Strategies will require partnerships and resource sharing. Opposition spokesperson criticizes the way the Salvation Army’s contract was axed. He looks forward to working on the refreshed Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy.
