Join us in supporting York’s libraries as they celebrate 10 years of greatness

Are public libraries still relevant? Yes, says the Chief Executive of Explore Libraries and Archives. They offer essential services and activities, making them dynamic spaces catering to diverse needs. A 2023 University of East Anglia report estimated that a branch library typically provides £1 million in value annually. Public libraries are not mere rooms full of books, but vital spaces fostering a sense of community in an increasingly polarized society.
Our unique reach into local communities has been recognized by Arts Council England, and Explore is inviting people to get more involved as it celebrates its 10th birthday in 2024. This involvement can take the form of becoming a community member, volunteering, joining the board, or providing financial support. The goal is to ensure that Explore not only survives but thrives in the years to come.
