Increase in thefts prompts warning to York moped and motorbike owners

The North Yorkshire Police are actively patrolling known motorcycle theft hotspots in York to gather information and arrest offenders. PC Ben Ambler of the York Outer Neighbourhood Policing Team has observed a significant increase in motorcycle thefts and advises owners to secure their vehicles with locks, chains, and covers. He also recommends fitting a tracking system and/or alarm, and storing vehicles in a secure garage or shed if possible. In cases where this is not feasible, owners should park in well-lit areas with good visibility and CCTV coverage. The police will also be hosting events with local motorcycle businesses to promote crime prevention and security advice. Anyone with information on motorcycle thefts is urged to contact the police.
