Daisy Day Care in Ampleforth has received a ‘good’ rating from Ofsted in all areas, an improvement from its previous ‘inadequate’ rating in February 2023. The nursery, which cares for approximately 50 children, was inspected on December 13 and the managers expressed their delight with the outcome, attributing it to the hard work of the staff and the support of the families.
Ofsted inspectors praised the nursery’s “dedicated and nurturing” staff who create a “warm and welcoming environment” for the children, helping them to feel settled and secure. The report also noted that the staff promote children’s independence, support their positive behavior, and help them make progress from their starting points.
The inspectors also commended the managers for addressing concerns identified in the previous inspection, and parents reported being pleased with the care their children receive at the nursery. The report highlighted the nursery’s effective communication with parents and its procedures to support children as they transition to school. Additionally, the inspectors noted the nursery’s strong safeguarding measures, including regular staff training and robust procedures for reporting concerns about child safety.
In terms of areas for improvement, the inspectors suggested developing the outdoor area to provide more learning opportunities and strengthening transition times for children, such as mealtimes and going outside. The full report can be accessed on Ofsted’s website.
