February decision postponed for certain York bus services

The council has delayed the decision on the future of certain bus services in York. The proposed changes to bus routes were published last year and a survey invited bus users to give their input. Final recommendations were initially set to be published on January 17, with a decision to be made on January 25. However, the decision has been pushed back to February 20.

Lib Dem councillors criticized the short duration of the survey and the timing of the decision. They noted that the short consultation period was unacceptable for such an important issue. Proposed changes include decreases in the frequency of several bus services.

Executive member for transport, Councillor Pete Kilbane, emphasized the importance of the consultation process and the consideration of public views. He expressed a willingness to hear from the public and organizations, while also denouncing the use of consultation as a delay tactic by the Liberal Democrats.
