The trio swept away on the River Esk near Glaisdale as they tried to cross the water. A 4×4 was found with three men dead inside, prompting an emergency response from police, ambulance, and a helicopter. The vehicle was removed from the river by four other vehicles, including two tractors. A resident, Chris Ford, revealed that the men were part of an off-roading group and were swept away by the swollen river after attempting to cross a ford on Rake Lane. The incident occurred during Storm Gerrit, which caused widespread flooding and travel chaos. Another man who tried to help was rescued from the river and received medical treatment. Witnesses are urged to report information to North Yorkshire Police.
