On Wednesday, Charlie Allott and his father, farmers near Hawnby, noticed one of their calves was missing from the herd. They suspected it had fallen down a windy hole in the area.
Later on, they enlisted the help of farrier Richard Edwards, who had experience with exploring windy holes. He offered to check the particular hole where the calf might be. With the assistance of the farmers, Richard descended into the windy hole and found the calf about 10 yards in. After 20 minutes, the calf was successfully rescued and reunited with its mother. Charlie expressed his gratitude to Richard for his exceptional effort in rescuing the calf.
Photo and video of the rescue can be provided upon request.
Best wishes, Sara Allott
