Eligibility for a Free TV Licence: BBC TV Licence

Each UK household is legally required to have a TV licence if they watch or record live TV, regardless of the channel. However, those aged 75 or over in receipt of Pension Credit can get a free TV Licence, instead of paying £159. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) tweeted a message encouraging people to check eligibility for Pension Credit and apply online. TV Licensing provides guidance on how to get a free licence and how to apply for a refund if a household no longer needs it. The amount of the refund will be based on the remaining unused months of the licence.
